2024 Hits: Trending Topics Among Nonprofits This Past Year
Another year is nearly over, and it’s a perfect time to reflect on all that has happened in the past 12 months. We saw the top athletes in the world compete in the Paris Olympics, held space for “Defying Gravity” during press tours for the film Wicked, and experienced a fair bit of brain rot. In the nonprofit tech scene, there was no shortage of trending topics in 2024. This year, the team at Omatic hosted dozens of webinars, published blogs, and shared customer success stories to educate our audiences and further important discussions in the industry. Without further ado, here are the top five topics that our readers couldn’t get enough of this year.
AI and Fundraising
Since the release of Open AI’s ChatGPT in early 2022, artificial intelligence has been all the rage. More organizations are thinking about the best way to incorporate this powerful technology to improve efficiency. Nonprofits are no exception, and it feels like new tools for using AI to streamline fundraising, outreach, ticketing, and other essential functions are hitting the market every day. We’re here to help you navigate this evolving technology and its impact on the nonprofit industry. Check out our webinar on using AI to streamline event management.
Engaging Gen Z Donors
Generation Z, those born between 1997 and 2012, is growing in influence. They’re digitally savvy, socially conscious, and skeptical of traditional advertising. The oldest members of this generation are beginning their careers and are becoming an increased focus for nonprofit fundraisers. What does Gen Z care about? Receipts! An organization’s vibes alone don’t cut it with this crowd—younger donors want to know exactly what they are funding and expect details on the impact. Learn more about unlocking the power of Gen Z donors in our webinar recording from July 2024.
Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce made waves in 2008 when it launched the open-source Nonprofit Success Pack—a tool designed for nonprofits to manage programs, fundraising, and constituent engagement. This year, Salesforce doubled down on its commitment to supporting nonprofits with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud. We hosted a webinar to talk through this landmark offering from Salesforce. Check out a recording to learn about the benefits of the Nonprofit Success Pack versus Nonprofit Cloud and get an overview of what you should consider if your organization decides to make a switch.
Workplace Philanthropy Donors
Workplace philanthropy—the practice of donating through an employer-sponsored program—is growing in popularity. In fact, corporate giving is growing at twice the rate of individual giving as more employers leverage philanthropic benefits to retain talent. Workplace donors are some of the most valuable supporters a nonprofit can have. They often make recurring gifts and, in many cases, have an employer match. Yet, stewarding these donors is tricky without proper data. Read our guide on why more nonprofits are prioritizing workplace philanthropy donors and read best practices for retaining them. Blackbaud’s Updates to Raiser’s Edge NXT
Earlier this year, Blackbaud announced plans to make Raiser’s Edge NXT a complete web solution. By the end of 2025, all critical workflows will be in web view. This means less toggling between database view and web view, and a more unified experience for nonprofit professionals. For more than 20 years, we have helped nonprofits get data into Blackbaud products, increase data integrity, and move information efficiently. As Blackbaud rolls out changes to Raiser’s Edge NXT, we’ll be here to ensure your data flows without interruption. Throughout the year, we discussed strategies for maximizing Blackbaud features, and we’ll continue to do so as they roll out updates. Check out a recording of Omatic Cloud and Raiser’s Edge NXT: Let Web View Work for You. 2024 has been another banner year for Omatic. Between hosting webinars on these exciting topics, publishing our annual Nonprofit Trends Report, and discussing our own product updates, we had a lot to share with our audiences. We hope you’ll continue to stay updated by signing up for our monthly newsletter and following Omatic on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
