Children’s Health Foundation Implements Efficient Solution to Better Manage Donor Data

The Challenge

Since 1922, Children’s Health Foundation, an independent, incorporated nonprofit organization, has been Raising Hope and granting funds to Children’s Hospital and Children’s Health Research Institute in London, Ontario.

Over the past 90 years, the Foundation has granted $80 million to fund specialized healthcare initiatives and research for children. All donations support specialized pediatric patient care, equipment, education, research, and community outreach at Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Center, and groundbreaking research at Children’s Health Research Institute into the causes and cures of childhood illnesses and diseases.

The Children’s Health Foundation receives several files from multiple sources containing information that needs to be stored and tracked in Raiser’s Edge for future use in fundraising initiatives. The organization conducts more than 10 events per year ranging from 200 to 2,000 participants and sponsors. All this data could take weeks to manually enter in Raiser’s Edge.

As a Foundation, the organization receives a large file from a partner each year with donor data that needs to be entered for receipting. It also receives many smaller files from partners that required staff at the Foundation to manually enter and check for duplicates.

Importing a single file could take several days and the foundation would have many duplicate records. This would be quite problematic for the organization and ultimately result in inaccurate donor records.

“We have been using ImportOmatic for six months now and I can’t imagine life without it. It is accurate and you really can’t go wrong with it.”

The Solution

Children’s Health Foundation selected ImportOmatic, an import utility developed by Omatic Software, to easily import data from its online giving tool, fundraising events, partners, and many other sources. Omatic Software focuses on extending, integrating, and automating Blackbaud’s tools with many add-on solutions.

ImportOmatic allows the Foundation to import multiple data sets at once while checking for duplicates to ensure the most accurate data import possible. ImportOmatic also enables the staff to import multiple levels of information in one import.

With ImportOmatic, the Foundation is able to get information into Raiser’s Edge faster and more accurately to ensure the timely and appropriate stewardship of its donors. ImportOmatic has reduced the amount of time spent importing and entering data by more than 50 percent and decreased the need for additional staff or volunteer assistance.

The Foundation is able to import more information, do it more accurately, and do it with fewer resources. The Foundation has streamlined its processes and can efficiently use Raiser’s Edge as a single repository for constituent data.
