Congratulation on your ImportOmatic purchase! We are excited for you to harness the power of getting your data in and out of Raiser’s Edge™! Regardless of where you are in the implementation process, forward thinking on how you will leverage ImportOmatic is wise. Below you will find steps to successfully get the most out of your ImportOmatic purchase.

Practice building other profiles on your own.

During training we will create a single profile or two to demonstrate ImportOmatic’s functionality, but don’t stop there! Don’t underutilize the software by only using the profiles built during training. ImportOmatic is yours to use, and there is no end to the profiles you can configure on your own. Leverage ImportOmatic to assist your organization year-round with a wide variety of import and data clean-up tasks.

Stick with it, use the software regularly, it gets easier!

During training, allow yourself to absorb what you can, but note any questions on settings or functionality. The online user guide can be a great resource to clarify ImportOmatic questions. Also, don’t forget to take advantage of the eLearning Library! This library contains bite-size videos that shed light on specific areas of ImportOmatic functionality. The more you use ImportOmatic, even complex functionality will become second nature!

Allow yourself to make mistakes, but learn from them.

No one is perfect! Mistakes can be some of life’s best teachers! If you have just recently completed your implementation, your comfort level and mastery of the product will come with time and practice. The main thing to remember is that you will make some mistakes, just be sure to think about what caused them and try to learn from them!

Test, test, test! Validation mode is your friend.

Remember that validation mode is there for your testing purposes. This mode allows you to try your hand at importing with a smaller subset of data. This type of testing will get you more comfortable behind the wheel. If you are coming back to a profile that you haven’t used in a while, or you are attempting an import with a new profile, it is always a wise idea to perform a small test on just a few rows from the real data file.

Quick Tip: As a best practice, grab just 5 or 10 rows from the full data file and copy them into a new smaller sample file for a quick test. Run that data through ImportOmatic’s validate mode to crosscheck possible exceptions you can expect to encounter when running the full import. If the validation test goes well, you can “commit” the records you just processed before proceeding with the rest of the data.

Keep up with software updates!

At Omatic we are constantly innovating to make our products better, faster, better! Each new version of ImportOmatic has improvements to existing functionality based on your suggestions!
